How It Works
- ENVI’s all-electric EVs provide a 150- to 200-mile driving range on zero gasoline and no tailpipe emissions
- ENVI’s Range-extended Electric Vehicles can travel 40 miles on battery power alone
- The range extender is a small internal combustion engine and integrated generator that produces electricity that extends the range to 400 miles, using very little gasoline
- Overnight charging with a standard 110-volt household outlet
- Charging time is cut in half with 220-volt household appliance power outlet

For the past 15 years, we have been among the automotive industry’s environmental pioneers. And as the need for reduced energy consumption and alternative fuels continues to rise, we dedicate a prominent portion of our research and development to finding and building solutions.
 SmartWay Vehicle Certification
Chrysler offers 11 vehicles that are considered very good environmental performers relative to competitors. These have received the SmartWay certification and are recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for having tailpipe emissions significantly lower than environmental thresholds. In other words, they’re cleaner than they have to be.

- Caliber: All models equipped with 2.0L or 2.4L engine with CVT2 transmission

Future Development
Here’s what we’re working on now:
- Putting more than one hundred Chrysler electric vehicles will be on the road in government, business and Chrysler development fleets in 2009
- Producing at least one Chrysler electric-drive model in 2010 for consumers in North American markets, and European markets after 2010
- Making 50 percent of Chrysler vehicles capable of running on alternative fuels such as ethanol and biodiesel by 2012
